Asheville Citizen

The Asheville Citizen was started in 1870. Charles A. Webb, the newspaper's owner, served five North Carolina counties. In 1885 the paper became a daily paper and was the only one west of Charlotte. The Citizen advocated for the Mountain region's economic development, in addition to publishing a newspaper. It was actually the first newspaper to use a Linotype machine in the state.

Asheville Citizen-Times building

The Asheville Citizen-Times building once housed the office and printing facilities of the daily paper. The building will now be home to a boutique pressing plant. The new business will be called Citizen Vinyl, and will also feature a bar/cafe and a record store. Citizen Vinyl, founded by Gar Ragland (a veteran music producer), will be North Carolina’s first on-site pressing facility.

It will also allow users to change the text size. Subscribers to this newspaper will also be able access to USA TODAY Network’s crossword puzzles and e-Editions. You should note that the digital copy of this newspaper is not available for download until the promo period has expired.

The Asheville Citizen-Times will be changing its home delivery model. This includes the end of Saturday home delivery. Instead, the newspaper will now be delivered to homes on a six-day schedule, which includes Saturday. The new model will also include local ads and features. If you prefer to receive your newspaper electronically, you will be able to access it whenever you want.
